a man can abuse those he should love but then lavish attention and cater to the whims of a child to whom he owes nothing.
a man can abuse someone and then be surprised and hurt that they would actually leave in order to save themselves (and their children) from a rapidly disintegrating environment.
a man can learn the value of fidelity after he realizes that his adult children (from various women) might secretly despise him even though they enjoy being siblings.
a man can be completely unselfish and thoroughly generous when he loves someone even if that love is never returned.
a man can make it to the middle of his life without ever learning about the things it takes to sweeten a relationship.
a man can be a pompous ass for the bulk of his life, but still expect that the children in his life will remain ignorant of his misdeeds, even as they reach adulthood.
a man can essentially wash his hands of the mother of his child, and never contribute to the upbringing of the child, but his family will still tell his child that she can depend on him.
a man can start a relationship with someone who is a perfect match for him, yet screw it all up in cataclysmic proportions.
a man can be a jackass of a teenager and grow into an adult who is an intelligent, caring role model for youth around him.
a man can let his love wander the world to her hearts content and never waver in his love.
a woman can put up with a lot of sh!t. some of it is circumstantial and some of it she invites into her life -even going so far as to lay out the freshly brushed red carpet for this sh!t.
a woman can have a hard life and still be sweet, friendly, patient, giving, generous.
a woman can make a way for herself and become crochety, miserly, bossy and miserable.
a woman can have a relatively easy life yet make life difficult for those who should be closest to her.
a woman can watch the relationships in her life and decide to emulate them, or learn to treat similar situations like gaping potholes in the road - avoid whenever possible.
a woman can kiss someone in whose face she'd rather spit.
a woman can offer her trust to someone who has proven many times over that he is not worth it.
a woman can be patient when all she wants to do is scream.
a woman can roll with the punches while plotting her roundhouse kick in retaliation.
an optimistic traveller can put on off repellant lotion every day religiously and the mosquitoes will STILL find untreated flesh. DAMMIT!
